Forty-three year old Jenny Beckett has just renovated eight rustic guest cabins on beautiful Heron Lake, North Carolina. Jenny’s business isn’t her only problem. Her mother and stepfather have just moved in for an extended stay. Startling developments with her possible fiancé, Luke, make Jenny question his commitment to her. An all-gal camping trip in her old Airstream lifts her spirits, but Jenny still has doubts about whether she and Luke can make their love work. Want to have a crazy good time?
I received Summer at the Lakeside Resort by Susan Schild as a gift and oh my goodness, I fell in love with the characters. They are warm, funny and some of them are quirky. It really is a laugh out loud funny book. Susan Schild tickled my funny bone several times. Although Summer at the Lakeside Resort is not necessarily a profound and awe inspiring book, it is still a really good book. I think Susan meant for this to be a lighthearted and fun book although it deals with a woman who has the courage to put herself back out there in both the professional and personal sides of her life.
This is actually the second book in the series. I have every intention of going back to read the first book. Although I didn’t read the first one, I didn’t get that lost feeling while reading the second installment. There is a Christmas story coming out and the next installment in the spring. You would do yourself a favor by reading these books.
Who doesn’t love a good laugh?
Amulya Malladi and I had an excellent discussion about her book, “The Nearest Exit May be Behind You”, the Coaching Book that goes along with it and the seven other novels that she has written since 2003.
Learn more about the “Lean In” culture and tricks that Amulya has learned to be a stronger You! I said her book is a celebration of women, but it’s more than that, it’s Amulya’s personal celebration of women and it is not to be missed! Each of her books are written to lift women up and remind us that we are stronger than we think! She is one of our biggest champions!
I could talk with her forever! I am sure Amulya will be back. She has definitely become one of my favorite authors to speak with. So, get to know her!

Natalie DeAngelo lost everything the day her two young sons were killed in a school shooting. Desperate to find relief from her unspeakable loss, she volunteers as a veterinarian on an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, but soon realizes she may be in over her head. Battling the memories that torment her day and night, Natalie must find a way to heal an angry, injured elephant named Sophie. Through love, acceptance, and gentle care, Natalie and Sophie heal together, finding new ways to enjoy life again.
This book knocked it out of the park for me! I absolutely fell in love with Natalie from the moment she stepped into the book and onto the page.
Emotions ran high throughout this story entire story. I found myself with tears in my eyes many times throughout; when both sad and happy events took place.
The emotional journey that Natalie takes when traveling to the elephants, which she refers to as “ellies”, is one that will have you wanting more and not wanting to put the book down. I was always wondering “what could possibly happen next”…..
I absolutely loved this book! This was my first book by Dawn Reno Langley and will certainly not be my last.

Scarlett Walsh is twenty-something, single, and lonely in Chicago. Still reeling from an unexpected breakup that left her broken hearted, Scarlett relies heavily on her group of girlfriends to help heal and move forward. But her friendship with BFF and long-time roommate Tinsley Thompson has turned toxic, and Scarlett is on the brink of moving out – and causing more friction to the already rocky friendship. Wishing to avoid drama amongst their close group of girlfriends, Scarlett attempts to stay focused on her job as a vet tech and the excitement of being a first-time puppy mom instead of confronting Tinsley. The rift between the two friends continues to grow – until a dark secret is shared that will rock the decade-long besties.
This second book in a six-part girlfriend series continues the stories of Scarlett, Breely, Nora, Lauren, Kristy, Tinsley and Scarlett, and takes readers on six individual stories about relationships, career choices, personal conflict and the bond of friendship.
I had the pleasure of listening to the Audible version of this Samantha March’s novel, “The Six: Scarlett”. It was definitely entertaining.
This is the first of the Six Series books that I’ve read and I will most definitely be reading or listening to the others!!
Scarlett’s story is one that I am sure most of us could relate to, because I know that I did.
If you have or have had a best friend or a group of friends where you had a favorite bestie, then you will love this story!
Throughout the book we learn about the trials and tribulations, good and bad of the friendship between these six women.
I truly look forward to reading and learning about the other ladies in the rest of the Six Series.
Phenomenal domestic suspense writer Kimberly Belle and I discussed her recently released novel “Dear Wife”, along with her four other books. We learned more about her writing style, and a few more details about Kimberly herself.
Be sure to watch her interview, she is both talented and a lot of fun!!
Keep up with Kimberly here:

Meeting with Samantha March was such an honor because I used to be one of her Associate Book Reviewers. What a fun reunion this was! This interview was informative about her books and very personal about Samantha’s relationship with her stories. It truly was beautiful! She is a joy to listen to! Watch the interview to get her perspective on her novels; it’s so much different than reading the summary in Amazon or Goodreads.
She was always so very talented and uber motivated. Her books are definitely stories that need to be added to your TBR List! Check out all eight and which ones are right for you. I am sure you will find you won’t know which one to read first; because you’ll be adding most, if not all.

Jo’s mother, Babe, liked to drink, dance, and stay up very late. When the husband she adored went on sales calls, she waited for him in the parking lot, embroidering pillowcases. Jo grew up thinking that the last thing she wanted was to be like her mother. Then it dawned on her that her own happiness was derived in large part from lessons Babe had taught her. Her mother might have had tomato aspic and stewed rhubarb in her fridge, while Jo had organic kale and almond milk in hers, but in more important ways they were much closer in spirit than Jo had once thought.
At a turbulent time in America, Never Sit If You Can Dance offers uplifting lessons in old-fashioned civility that will ring true with mothers, daughters, and their families. Told with lighthearted good humor, it’s a charming tale of the way things used to be—and probably still should be.
A mother that definitely deserved her very own book, let alone that sentence.
This book was ultimately a love story to Babe, written by her daughter Jo Giese. Sharing all of the special, witty, kind and often laugh out-loud wisdom that Babe passed on to Jo, we are given a beautiful gift.
This gift unwraps one chapter at a time, and it is just glorious advice. I know I will remember them, as I want to put into practice. Especially “Nobody Likes Depressed people”.
Jo – I trust your Mother was with you for that special Mother’s Day! I have a feeling her spirit was strong.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
